FEATURED JOB OPENING: Long-Term Caretaker Couple Wanted - between Santa Fe & Las Vegas, NM

LONG-TERM CARETAKERS NEEDED at a 340-acre ranch located between Santa Fe and Las Vegas, New Mexico. We are wanting to create an assisted living situation for ourselves on the ranch that we have lived on, taken care of and loved for 30 years. This role is ideal for a couple who are semi-retired or who work remotely and enjoy quiet, country living. A private 1,000 sq. ft. cabin with full living quarters is provided. While the workload is part-time, we do ask for a regular presence—especially evenings and weekends—for peace of mind and to provide help and support in case of emergencies.

Caretakers need to be capable of handling a variety of general ranch maintenance tasks. They should have good mechanical skills, knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical systems. They need to know how to operate a tractor, weed eater and chain saw, and work with pumps and drip irrigation systems. Caretakers will need to do a variety of household tasks and make occasional trips to Santa Fe for errands and appointments. Caretakers need to be in good health and physically fit, and who can handle one of us in case of a fall, and have training in CPR. A quiet healthy lifestyle is essential: no smoking or heavy use of alcohol or drugs, no loud music. Should have experience with basic care of horses. Pets are fine as long as dogs are not “barkers,” and cats would need to stay indoors because of predators. We are artists, writers and progressive activists so compatibility in views is important. Our home is quiet, secluded and beautiful, with a creek that runs part of the year.

A northern New Mexico couple is preferred.
