Millicoma River Parks and Recreation District (MRPRD) in the beautiful area of Coos County called Allegany is hiring for a live on site VOLUNTEER camp host position.
The host is viewed by those who use the Community Center (CC) as a representative of MRPRD. Volunteer services will include:
1. Being knowledgably of MRPRD rules and regulations; assisting users by answering questions and explaining rules that apply to them in a helpful and cheerful manner;
2. Setting a good example for visitors by practicing good housekeeping around your site and personally complying with MRPRD rules and regulations
3. Greeting users/visitors and make them feel welcome; being familiar with local points of interest and locations where local services can be obtained and sharing information with users regarding those points of interest mainly pertaining to CC operations.
4. Answering questions, receiving comments and being readily available and accessible to the public
5. Assisting with parking as needed
6. Being observant of activities within the area that need immediate attention by board and contacting help when enforcement action is needed -- Host will take NO law enforcement action but will notify board or law enforcement if warranted.
7. Assisting staff, board members and volunteers on the tasks, that for safety reasons would be beneficial to work together, including but not limited, to tree trimming and other maintenance issues, general yard work and light building maintenance under the direction of the board.
8. Be familiar with and follow the policies and procedures that are currently in effect with MRPRD including, but not limited to: Accident reporting, District alcohol and drug policies, and personal conduct and code of ethics policies
B) Cleaning and Maintenance:
1. Daily security walk through of building and surrounding yard
2. Monitoring security system and notifying of board or authorities when necessary
3. Checking property daily for cleanliness
4. Touch-up and light cleaning and maintenance of facility during use by renters as needed; track inventory of used supplies and report to board or Janitorial Service for ordering/purchase. Any items needed for maintenance and care of MRPRD property purchased by volunteer will be reimbursed by MRPRD with presentation of receipt. Any purchase over $25.00 needs to have prior board approval for reimbursement.
5. Touch-up painting of buildings as needed and directed by board staff
6. Picking up and disposing of litter and debris; taking care of trash and recyclables to include setting out of both personal and community center trash can on appropriate pick up days and returning cans to appropriate spots
7. Brushing and or mowing as instructed by board staff
8. Maintenance and cleaning of sidewalks surrounding building and picnic table area
9. Lawn area surrounding volunteer home site to be kept mowed, trimmed and watered and presentable at all times
10. Maintain monthly fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance log and notify and update board staff as needed
11. Perform water sampling s directed by board

C) Emergency Operations:
1. In the absence of board staff, taking appropriate action during emergencies, i.e obtaining and conveying relevant information to appropriate emergency personnel or authorities and cooperating with and assisting those emergency personnel and authorities as directed by them
2. Assisting in the opening , setting up and operation of the CC as a Red Cross Shelter as needed with community volunteers
Additional requirements for this position will include:
-Ability to live on-site in your trailer or motor home
-Good Communication Skills
-Ability to deal with the public in a friendly and courteous manner
-Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
-Ability to work outdoors in a wide degree of temperatures
Compensation for this position will be:
-On site living space
-Water
-Sewer
-Electric
-Storage Building
*****This is a NON-PAID position. There is not now, and there never will be, monetary compensation for this position. All compensation shall be in the form of a living space and utilities in exchange for services rendered.*****
